Successful completion of this course provides you with the:
SATAC application process
Certificate III in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) [CUE30203], Certificate IV in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) [CUE40303] and the Diploma of Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Production) (CUE50303).

Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Sourcing and applying entertainment industry knowledge; working with others; managing own work and learning; analysing scripts; organising rehearsals; creating production documents; reading plans; plus electives in lighting, sound or vision systems.

Certificate IV in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations)
Leading work teams; coordinating production operations; organising and monitoring bump in/bump out; standard lighting cues; preparing, installing and testing lighting equipment; installing, aligning and testing audio equipment; preparing, rigging, testing and modifying vision systems; electives; and OH&S.

Diploma of Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Production)
Lighting and/or sound and/or vision systems and/or staging; team leadership; technical and workplace management; OH&S; plus electives.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Any one of:
  • Satisfactory completion of SACE Stage 2 (or equivalent)
  • Any Certificate III
  • Satisfactory achievement in the TAFE SA Assessment of Basic Skills (TABS)

Expected Employment Outcome Example

Theatres, festivals and other live entertainment settings, as well as in film and television production studios and museums require qualified individuals to produce, stage or install plays, concerts, events and exhibitions. Students have access to fully equipped, state of the art facilities and graduates gain employment in occupations including lighting, sound, staging, vision systems technicians and as stage managers, costume-, set- and props-makers, and as scenic and costume designers.
